Triumph of the Moon by Ronald Hutton

This book is one of my favorites. A Buddhist friend actually loaned it to me the first time I read it, and I now own my own copy. It changed my life, and sent me on a five-year journey of self-discovery. I have learned to never take anything at face value, and to question absolutely everything. There are no "great leaders" or whatever. Every person you meet has something to teach you, not just one or two. I have learned to find my own answers when I have questions and I don't trust anyone that claims to have all the answers. Did I get that from the book? No, that all came from my own studies, but it was the book, "Triumph of the Moon," that made me start questioning. You can find more information about the book, including reviews, here. Finally! About damn time these people were put in their place! Now I can only hope they don't drag this out forever. Half the family is lawyers - but it could very well still bankrupt them and close down their church. Wouldn't that be nice? Here's the story from CNN. The 21 Lessons of Merlyn

I have this book on my shelf, because many years ago a friend of mine decided she wanted to study Druidism and picked it up. What a mess. You can go here and see what most people think of it - hell, you can go just about anywhere and read what most people think of it. I've had the opportunity to study quite a bit on Druidry, and yeah, this book is full of inaccuracies and stuff that just made me go "huh?" Celibacy? Vegetarian Celts in Britain? I would recommend "The Druids" by Peter Berresford Ellis. He has done some very in-depth research, looking into Roman, Greek and even some Celtic writings. It's a fascinating read and much more informative from a historic standpoint.

I'm Fenix Mage in Springfield, MO., and I'm a member of Greenleaf Coven. We have been in existence for about sixteen years now. We have produced a couple of different newsletters over the years and we are still producing "The Pagan Show," which shows on a local cable access channel, although we also put it up online so our friends outside of the area can see it. I'm happy to answer questions and provide links to our stuff.
